Soon, very very soon, I will be moving into my village 14km from a road, with 200 people, who are 100% Mandinka. My first three months, I will concentrate on learning Mandinka, learning my village and all the community members. We are told to resist the urge to work on any real projects until our communication and cultural knowledge are up to par. I do have my own backyard, though, where I plan on starting some vegies, compost, and a chicken coop. Next time I’ll be back in internet land will probably be Thanksgiving, so until then, I give you some youtube videos for minutes of entertainment.
